It’s a new year, and you know what that means: scores of people committing to resolutions. But making a fresh start each January isn’t just for individuals — it’s important for businesses to assess their habits and aim higher, too. Here are a few Cape Cod social media marketing resolutions that will make this a year to remember (in a good way this time).

Keep Facebook-ing: Despite the growing size of the field when it comes to social platforms, Facebook is still at the top, boasting the most engagement, best ROI, and most active users. So for anyone who was considering no longer using Facebook for marketing (unlikely)… don’t do that.

Keep Videos Short and Sweet: In recent years, short-form video has become one of the most effective types of marketing content. According to HubSpot, the younger the audience, the more they appreciate short, trendy content. Older audiences like to indulge in interactive, educational offerings like podcast or live interviews. No matter your target demographic, if you’ve been dragging your feet on investing in video content, it’s time to dive in.

Live and Let Live: Live video is just behind short form in the marketing strategies race. Live streaming content builds a sense of community and trust with users, so get ready to go live in 2022. (Do you see what I did now, with the heading? Clever, no?)

Timing Is Key: If you aren’t yet posting to social media on a schedule, based on when your audience is most likely to be online, it’s an easy but incredibly effective change to make this year. Any given platform’s insight tools will let you know the best time to post marketing content. (For those who like to keep things general, 6-9pm EST is a popular slot across the board).

Stop Ignoring TikTok!: I mean it this time! According to Social Media Today, TikTok’s popularity is still on the rise. The platform is becoming more dominant in the social marketing space all the time, so the time to dip your toe into TikTok waters is now.

Pay Up: Also according to Social Media Today, last year saw a 92.3% year-over-year growth in ad spend. Yes, I agree, that is an insane figure. If you’re already investing in paid reach, keep it up. If not, I’m sure the aforementioned insane figure has changed your mind.

Share Your Values: Finally, value-based content has continued to grow in importance as internet culture has gotten more… hmm, how can I put this delicately … feisty? Let’s go with feisty. There’s something to be said for keeping one’s distance from controversy, but more and more, social media users want to know about the values of the brands they love, so consider getting a bit more personal with your content in 2022.

Happy new year!
