I hate to be the first to say it, but the internet can be a bummer. Social media has enhanced and improved our lives beyond measure, but it also has the power to mess with our mental health. We’ve all found ourselves mindlessly scrolling through content, wasting more time than we meant to on the world inside our phones or computers.
Fortunately, there’s a quick fix for this online exhaustion that doesn’t involve deleting every social media app and moving to a cottage in the woods (though that sounds fine by me). Simply adding more wholesome, happy content to your feeds can make a big difference. Here are a few accounts that are sure to spark joy:
Tank’s Good News: Enjoy a daily dose of hope and inspiration with real good news from around the world.
My Kid Can’t Eat This: This hilarious Instagram is dedicated to meals and snacks that picky children simply would not consume. It will make you laugh and make you hungry.
Humans of New York: What started as a photo project has become a huge movement showcasing the real lives of New York’s inhabitants. Some posts will make you smile, some will make you cry, but they’ll all make you think.
Oh Happy Day: Want to look at photos of nice, colorful stuff? Of course you do.
bonpon511: Adorable married couple Tsuyoshi and Tomi Seki wear matching outfits every single day. Why aren’t you following them? I don’t know either.
Dogs Eating Gently: Do I even need to elaborate here?
The Ocean: What’s more calming than an Instagram dedicated to gorgeous images of the sea? Okay, maybe the actual sea, but this account will do in a pinch.
Things Organized Neatly: There are two kinds of people: those who are organized and those who wish they were. These soothing images appeal to both.
Craft the Rainbow: There is not nearly enough rainbow content in adult life, am I right? Get your multicolor fix here.
NASA: You know where your irritating coworker can’t hurt you? Space.
